Established in 1996, Rane is a psychedelic pop outfit with a penchant for sophisticated compositions and thoughtful and provoking lyrics. Comprised of Alan Venitosh (Guitar, Vox), Ryan Bowman (Guitar), Dan Prindle (Bass, Vox), Kurt Rinaldi (Percussion/Marimba), and Travis Lamothe (Drums), the band made a name for itself by being young and prodigious musicians willing to get a touring vehicle (forever known as The Vuck) and take off every weekend in high school and college to make their dream a reality.
Over the years they progressed from bar band to playing colleges and opening for some of the greatest acts to ever grace the stage like Santana, Tom Petty, Guster, and The Samples to name a few. All told they have released 8 albums and played nearly 900 shows and remain dear friends to this day. Their canon of original music and high energy shows is their legacy and, after a highly successful sold-out 20th anniversary concert in November of 2016, they plan to continue the celebration in the year to come.
US Route 5 runs through Enfield, South Windsor, and Manchester, our respective hometowns: It is a fairly unassuming stretch of highway that became our gateway to the world. None of us knew what it meant to be in a band. We wrote music together, and booked some gigs so we could play our music.
Over the years there were so many insane nights that no one would believe even if you told them. Moments of pure joy and discovery that played against nights of extreme self doubt. This, perhaps, was the greatest lesson we learned from all of this: going out there and giving it your all no matter what was happening in your life seemed to translate into all of our personal lives outside of the band. There were parties, there were fights, there were divorces, there were births and deaths….There was life. And 20 years later, we are still all friends and have a large canon of music to look back on and celebrate.
I could list the great shows or tell crazy road stories but those are all in the past. We cherish them and they made us into the men we are today, but it is the time to live in the now, and the now looks better than ever.
Please join us for a celebration of 20 years of playing in a band together, growing up in a van together, and really, navigating the insanity and joy, happiness and instability of life together. We couldn’t have imagined doing it anywhere else but The Iron Horse. It hosted so many great shows and holds so many memories for us and our fans that the choice was an easy one to make.
In addition to 2 sets of rane, we are going to have a set break video retrospective spanning the 20 years of our career with new interviews from the guys looking back on their story and where that story may lead from here. This is where YOU come in!
We are asking our beloved fans for their old pictures/posters/video to submit for the set break highlight reel. We couldn’t have done ANYTHING without you guys and our 20th anniversary show is no different. Send all of your content to email@example.com and hopefully your stuff makes the cut. Final date for submissions is Oct 1st so please get your content in before then.
We can’t thank you guys enough for all the support over the years and we intend to throw you a party that reflects our devotion to you all on a massive level. The best is yet to come, kids.
