RANE: : Make It Happen
2011 Tour and New Album
The members of Rane have announced today that they will perform a series of shows throughout Southern New England later this winter, as well as release a new collection of songs by the summer.
The first string of shows begin on Friday, February 25th at Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford, CT. A second show in Hartford on Saturday, March 12th at Up or On The Rocks is being billed as a tribute to U2's The Joshua Tree and will be a daytime show, directly following the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Spring shows also include a return to the Main Pub in Manchester, CT on April 1st and a performance at Theodore's in Springfield, MA on April 16th. More shows are on the horizon — stay tuned.
The band has been working in the studio over the past few months and promises new music by the summer of 2011. The collection of new recordings consists of songs that have been written over the past five years and will be released via their website. The last Rane album, 2005's Magnetic North, was received with wide critical acclaim and can now be downloaded from iTunes.
In addition, Rane plans to boost their online presence with the help of both Facebook and YouTube to stay in contact with fans and reignite the flame of Tides Records. Be sure to check both regularly for updates.
In 2008, the band relaxed its schedule to almost a halt to dedicate more time to personal projects.
Guitarist Ryan Bowman was granted a residency at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Farmington, CT, where he created several award-winning pieces of art. Coincindentally, today is his birthday.
Percussionist Kurt Rinaldi explored the ocean depths while scuba diving along much of the East Coast and Carribean. His fascinating underwater documentaries can be seen on the Rane Facebook page.
Bassist Dan Prindle is currently studying for his doctorate in Music Composition and Education at the University of Massachusetts. He has performed and composed with many artists over the past 5 years, and his original opera THE GIFT OF THE MAGI was recently presented by the Hartford Opera Theater.
Drummer Bryan Kelly became involved in some session work with other area bands, began a drummer's collective called "Drummers United," and is currently enjoying his first year of fatherhood.
Guitarist Alan Veniscofsky joined forces with CT band Columbia Fields in 2008, recording and co-producing their album Bridging the Gap and gigged regularly with the band over the past two years as lead guitarist. He also continues to work as a producer/engineer in the Hartford area as well as the Director of Operations for Telefunken Elektroakustik.
With over a decade of playing together and some time off, the guys in Rane are a little older, maybe even a little wiser. However, the desire to have fun once in a while is still very alive.
See you in 2011.
Make it happen.
